06Dues and rebate
IEEE dues are not divided into a guaranteed sequence of amounts for your Student Branch, Section, Council, and Region. The rules use a shared allocation pool and separate eligibility-based rebates.
2025 MGA Operations ManualIEEE Bylaws distinguish core IEEE dues from optional, member-choice dues for technical Societies. Society add-ons are not included in this estimate.
The current MGA manual allocates 12% of member dues to Regions, Sections, Chapters, Affinity Groups, and Student Branches as a whole.
Region allocations use prior-year membership, number of Sections, and relative travel cost. Other geographic units use their own rebate schedule and reporting rules.
Subunit rebates, including Student Branch rebates, are disbursed through the Section's bank account. Sections and Geographic Councils manage or transfer subunit funds under MGA rules.
The 12% is an aggregate allocation, not the share for any one member's Branch or Section. A Student Branch rebate is a separate branch-level calculation, not a percentage of the member's individual payment. See IEEE Bylaw I-108 and the MGA allocation rules.
Use the number of Student and Graduate Student members recorded on 31 December of the prior year. The published formula is US$50 below 50 members or US$100 at 50 or more, plus US$2 per member.
